6. Nature of Large Vesicle Exocytosis in Pancreatic β-cells: Release of ATP and GABA
Sammanfattning : Several high resolution electrophysiological techniques such as measurements of cell membrane capacitance and amperometry are used to detect exocytotic events. A novel method was developed in this study based on the expression of P2X2 receptor channel in secreting cells. LÄS MER
7. Enterostatin - target proteins and intracellular mechanisms. Function in food intake and energy metabolism
Sammanfattning : Hunger and satiety are the results of complex neural events that involve several neurotransmitters and peptides. Enterostatin is an appetite-regulating peptide released in the intestine in response to fat ingestion. Enterostatin specifically decreases fat intake, but has also metabolic effects like inhibition of insulin secretion. LÄS MER
8. Functional studies of purinergic and cholinergic interactions in the rat urinary bladder - Characterization of ATP-evoked urothelial release of acetylcholine
Sammanfattning : Functional interplays between different transmitter systems are known to affect the signalling of the micturition reflex arc. The functional implications of many of these interactions, such as between ATP and acetylcholine, have yet to be unravelled. LÄS MER

10. Mitochondrial function in human skeletal muscle: with special reference to exercise and training
Sammanfattning : The overall objective of this thesis was to study the adaptation of oxidative function in human skeletal muscle to acute exercise of different modes, intensities and durations, and to endurance training. The effects of endurance training on mitochondrial function were evaluated in cross-sectional and longitudinal studies by measurements of mitochondrial oxygen consumption in isolated mitochondria and permeabilised muscle fibres and measurements of mitochondrial ATP production rate in isolated mitochondria.
