11. Design and synthesis of -turn peptidomimetics : Applications to angiotensin II
Sammanfattning : This study addresses the issue of how to convert peptides into drug-like non-peptides while retaining the biological activity at peptide receptors. Angiotensin II (Asp-Arg-Val-Tyr-Ile-His-Pro-Phe, Ang II) was used as a model peptide. Small bioactive peptides are in most cases conformationally flexible molecules. LÄS MER
12. Design and Synthesis of 11C-Labelled Compound Libraries for the Molecular Imaging of EGFr, VEGFr-2, AT1 and AT2 Receptors : Transition-Metal Mediated Carbonylations Using [11C]Carbon Monoxide
Sammanfattning : This work deals with radiochemistry and new approaches to develop novel PET tracers labelled with the radionuclide 11C.Two methods for the synthesis of 11C-labelled acrylamides have been explored. LÄS MER
13. Angiotensin II Receptors in the Human Coronary Circulation and in Heart Failure
Sammanfattning : Angiotensin II (Ang II) is a potent vasoconstrictor that is implicated in the pathogenesis of hypertension, heart failure and atherosclerosis. In this thesis, the efficacy and safety of Ang II receptor blockers (ARB) were evaluated. LÄS MER
14. Endothelin and angiotensin II receptors in human coronary arteries and bypass grafts - Alterations in cardiovascular disease
Sammanfattning : Angiotensin II (Ang II) and endothelin-1 (ET-1) induce strong vasoconstriction via activation of receptors on vascular smooth muscle cells. In this thesis, the contractile Ang II and endothelin receptors were examined in endothelium-denuded human coronary arteries and in bypass grafts (the left internal mammary artery and the saphenous vein), with focus on receptor alterations in cardiovascular disease. 15. Mesentric hemodynamics and effects of angiotensin II during circulatory stress
Sammanfattning : Mesenteric hypoperfusion and ischemia is considered to be deleterious to the intestinal mucosal barrier function and it is suggested that the renin-angiotensin system plays a pivotal role in the regulation of mesenteric perfusion. The present thesis examines the effects of the specific AT1 receptor blocker candesartan on mesenteric hemodynamics during acute hypovolemia and endotoxinemia.
