6. Vascular Endothelin and Angiotensin Receptors Regulation in Inflammatory Arterial Disorders
Sammanfattning : The present thesis is aimed to examine the hypothesis that the degree of vascular inflammation correlates with the expression of vascular endothelin and angiotensin receptors. The receptor changes were studied in subcutaneous resistance arteries in patients with different degrees of ischemic heart disease (IHD). LÄS MER
7. Angiotensin II and vascular disease. Studies in rats and atherosclerosis-prone mice
Sammanfattning : Angiotensin II (Ang II) is of importance for a number of physiological processes but also plays an important pathophysiological role in cardiovascular disease. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the role of Ang II in hypertension-related atherosclerosis and vascular disease and to investigate possible anti-atherosclerotic effects of the angiotensin II, type 2 (AT2) receptor. 9. Design and Synthesis of 11C-Labelled Compound Libraries for the Molecular Imaging of EGFr, VEGFr-2, AT1 and AT2 Receptors : Transition-Metal Mediated Carbonylations Using [11C]Carbon Monoxide
Sammanfattning : This work deals with radiochemistry and new approaches to develop novel PET tracers labelled with the radionuclide 11C.Two methods for the synthesis of 11C-labelled acrylamides have been explored. LÄS MER
10. Effects of the angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker (AT₁ receptor blocker) candesartan cilexetil on systemic and renal haemodynamics in hypertensive patients
Sammanfattning : Established primary hypertension is primarily characterised by elevated peripheral resistance and an increase in renal vascular resistance. Antagonism of angiotensin II may be a particularly relevant intervention in this condition, as angiotensin II is known to act both as a powerful vasoconstrictor and as a stimulus to vascular hyperthrophy.
