1. Design of Cellulose-based Materials by Supramolecular Assemblies
Sammanfattning : Due to climate change and plastic pollution, there is an increasing demand for bio-based materials with similar properties to those of common plastics yet biodegradable. In this respect, cellulose is a strong candidate that is already being refined on a large industrial scale, but the properties differ significantly from those of common plastics in terms of shapeability and water-resilience. 2. Assemblies of Pervasive Services
Sammanfattning : Pervasive computing is a vision about computers blending into the background, being there to assist us when we need them, but not requiring constant attention. The vision covers scenarios in the home, at work, and out in the street, and builds on the ongoing development towards an increasing number of embedded computers with network connectivity. LÄS MER
3. Structural-acoustic vibrations in wooden assemblies : Experimental modal analysis and finite element modelling
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis concerns flanking transmission in light weight, wooden multi-storey buildings within the low frequency, primarily 20-120 Hz. The overall aim is to investigate how the finite element method can contribute in the design phase to evaluate different junctions regarding flanking transmission. LÄS MER
4. Finite Element Analysis of Sheet Metal Assemblies : Prediction of Product Performance Considering the Manufacturing Process
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the development of methodologies to be used to simulate complete manufacturing chains of sheet components and the study of how different mechanical properties propagate and influence succeeding component performance.Since sheet metal assemblies are a major constituent of a wide range of products it is vital to develop methodologies that enable detailed evaluation of assembly designs and manufacturing processes. 5. Gamma Spectroscopy and Gamma Emission Tomography for Fuel Performance Characterization of Irradiated Nuclear Fuel Assemblies
Sammanfattning : Gamma spectroscopy and gamma emission tomography are two non-destructive measurement techniques for assessing the performance of nuclear fuel which have been investigated in this thesis for existing and novel applications through theoretical studies and experimental demonstrations. For assessment of individual fuel rods using gamma spectroscopy, fuel assemblies are dismantled so that the fuel rods may be measured separately, which is time-consuming and may cause damage to the fuel.
