    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Membrane Interactions; Spectroscopy; Cell-Penetrating Peptides; Bioactive Peptides; Cell Membrane; Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy; Cellular Uptake; AF-16; Voltage-Sensitive Dyes; Cell Dyes; Antisecretory Factor; Ruthenium Complexes; Isothermal Titration Calorimetry; Flow-Cytometry;

    Sammanfattning : Knowledge about mechanisms behind interactions of molecules with biomembranes and cellular uptake is very important for understanding biological processes and for drug design. The work described in this thesis has focused on interactions of cellular dyes and bioactive peptides with cells and the cell membrane. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Adjuvant therapies to fluid resuscitation in experimental sepsis : Intervention studies in models of ARDS and peritonitis

    Författare :Annelie Barrueta Tenhunen; Gaetano Perchiazzi; Johanna Hästbacka; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Acute respiratory distress syndrome; edema formation; peritonitis; sepsis; fluid resuscitation; animal model; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : Fluid resuscitation is essential to antagonize the deleterious effects of tissue hypo-perfusion in sepsis. If not thoroughly monitored and individually tailored, fluid therapy increases the risk of volume overload. Volume overload is associated with higher mortality in sepsis. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Screening for atrial fibrillation and treatment with anticoagulant to prevent stroke

    Författare :Faris Ghazal; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : AIMS AND METHODS: The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the outcomes of two cross-sectional screening projects for atrial fibrillation (AF) in primary care using intermittent ECG three times per day over a 2-week period. The target population in the first project were 70–74-year-old individuals registered in a single primary healthcare centre, while in the second project the target population were patients 65 years of age and older attending four different primary healthcare centres.
