  1. 6. Imaging and Treatment Outcome of Potentially Curable Prostate Cancer

    Författare :Sam Ladjevardi; Gabriel Sandblom; Christer Dahlstrand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The over-all aim of the present study was to compare the results of treatment with curative intent, with conservative treatment in men with prostate cancer (PCa) without distant metastases.In a population-based cohort in Sweden, the predictive value of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) was evaluated and the relative survival of men considered plausible candidates for treatment with curative intent was investigated. 2. 7. MRI at 3 T of brain functions and fibre tracts adjacent to intracranial tumors

    Författare :Danielle van Westen; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; radiology; tomography; Clinical physics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; somatosensory cortex; diffusion magnetic resonance imaging; neoplasms; Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of the studies were: to evaluate the spatial resolution of fMRI at 3 T by studying fingersomatotopy in area 3 b of the primary sensory area (Paper 1); to investigate the potential of fMRI at 3T as a clinical tool for preoperative evaluation of patients with intracranial tumors (Paper 2); to investigate the effect of glioma resection on the spatial extent of fMRI activation as compared to the normal within-subject variability (Paper 3); to determine whether the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and fractional anisotropy (FA) can distinguish tumor-infiltrated edema of gliomas from pure edema of meningiomas and metastases (Paper 4). Results: Strict somatotopic organisation in the primary sensory cortex was shown in the group average; at the subject level the thumb was located laterally, anteriorly and inferiorly to the little finger in 94 % of subjects (Paper 1). 3. 8. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance for Diffusion Imaging Development and evaluation of spin-echo-based pulse sequences for in vivo studies of water self-diffusion

    Författare :Sara Brockstedt; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; perfusion fraction; electrocardiographic triggering; segmented EPI SEPI ; echo-planar imaging EPI ; fast spin-echo FSE ; spin-echo SE ; navigator echoes; phase corrections; diffusion; Magnetic resonance; MRI; ischaemic stroke; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Sammanfattning : The interest in diffusion imaging with nuclear magnetic resonance techniques has increased during the last few years. The main reason is the possibility of early diagnosis of acute ischaemic stroke, at a time when conventional MR techniques and computerised tomography fail. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Whole-Body MRI including Diffusion-Weighted Imaging in Oncology

    Författare :Firas Mosavi; Håkan Ahlström; Lennart Blomqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Diffusion-weighted imaging; Whole-body MRI; NaF PET CT; FDG PE CT; apparent diffusion coefficient;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer is one of the major causes of worldwide mortality. Imaging plays a vital role in the staging, follow-up, and evaluation of therapeutic response in cancer patients. Whole-body (WB) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), as a non-ionizing imaging technique, is a promising procedure to assess tumor spreading in a single examination. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Optimisation in strategies in diffusion tensor MR imaging

    Författare :Stefan Skare; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Diffusion tensor; magnetic resonance imaging; optimisation; artefacts;

    Sammanfattning : With diffusion MR imaging, the Brownian motion (or self-diffusion) of water molecules is measured. In the corresponding ADC (Apparent Diffusion Coefficient) image, each image element (voxel) represents the average diffusion. In MRI, the diffusion is measured with diffusion gradients along certain directions in space. LÄS MER
