  1. 1. Secretory Autoantibodies in Rheumatoid Arthritis

    Författare :Karin Roos Ljungberg; Alf Kastbom; Anna Svärd; Klara Martinsson; Jonas Wetterö; Per-Johan Jakobsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; Secretory autoantibodies; Immunoglobulins; Anti-citrullinated protein antibodies; ACPA; Mucosal immunity;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease in which autoantibodies, such as anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA), can be detected in the serum of patients. Autoantibodies may appear in the circulation years before clinical signs of joint inflammation occur, indicating that early immunological pathogenetic steps take place outside of the joints. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Early rheumatoid arthritis : biomarkers and hormonal factors in relation to disease progression

    Författare :Antonia Boman; Solbritt Rantapää-Dahlqvist; Ewa Berglin; Gerd-Marie Alenius; Mikael Brink; Heidi Kokkonen; Inger Gjertsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Early rheumatoid arthritis; biomarker; ACPA; RANKL; disease activity; radiological destruction; cardiovascular events; hormonal factors; reumatologi; rheumatology;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory joint disease, affecting approximately 0.5 to 1% of the adult population. Although the aetiology is not fully known, a complex interaction between genetic, environmental and stochastic factors is thought to trigger the pathogenic mechanisms. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Temporomandibular joint pain and tissue destruction in relation to inflammatory activity in rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Neveen Ahmed; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ACPA;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to study temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain and bone tissue destruction in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), in particular: pro- and anti‐inflammatory cytokines, systemic inflammatory activity, and the impact of TMJ pain on daily activities and quality of life. This thesis comprises three parts. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Early rheumatoid arthritis aspects of severity and co-morbidity

    Författare :Lena Innala; Solveig Wållberg Jonsson; Solbritt Rantapää Dahlqvist; Sᴓren Jacobsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Early rheumatoid arthriti; ACPA; cardiovascular co-morbidity; age at onset; pharmacological therapy; severity; disease activity; co-morbidity;

    Sammanfattning : Background Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic progressive destructive joint disease with an increased risk for co-morbidity and premature death if untreated. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the main cause of death but also other co-morbid conditions contribute to the patient’s shorter life expectancy. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On the origin of ACPA : exploring the role of P. gingivalis in the development of rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Natalia Sherina; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease characterized by chronic synovial inflammation, joint destruction, and the presence of anti-citrullinated protein autoantibodies (ACPA) in a majority of patients. Accumulating evidence suggests that ACPA play an important role in RA pathogenesis. LÄS MER
