16. FtsH metalloproteases and their pseudo-proteases in the chloroplast envelope of Arabidopsis thaliana
Sammanfattning : By cleaving peptide bonds, proteases either activate or degrade proteins and maintain protein quality control in response to various developmental stimuli and environmental factors. My work has focused on elucidating the role of the filamentation temperature sensitive protein H (FtsH) proteases. LÄS MER
17. Magnesium Chelatase: Insights into the first Step of Chlorophyll Biosynthesis
Sammanfattning : The enzyme magnesium chelatase inserts magnesium into protoporphyrin IX (Proto) to produce to magnesium protoporphyrin IX, the first unique intermediate of the chlorophyll biosynthetic pathway. Magnesium chelatase is composed of three distinct proteins termed I (molecular weight ~40 kDa), D (~70 kDa) and H (~140 kDa). LÄS MER
18. EVAR of AAA: Long term outcomes, disease progression and risk stratification
Sammanfattning : BackgroundEndovasvular aortic repair (EVAR) is the most commonly utilised technique for the treatment of abdominal aorticaneurysms (AAA) in tertiary referral centers. Detailed long-term outcomes of this technique are relatively scarce, especially for patients presenting symptomatically with AAA. LÄS MER
19. Oxidative stress-related factors in abdominal aortic aneurysm: potential clinical implications
Sammanfattning : Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a mostly silent vascular disease, with a rupture-related mortality rate exceeding 80%. To aid in future diagnosis and prognosis efforts, the studies included in the present thesis have explored the role of specific oxidative stress-related factors in the context of AAA using two population-based cohorts: AAA screening cohort of 65-year-old males (n = 421) and the Malmö diet and cancer study (MDCS) (n = 25252). 20. Stiffness and aneurysm of the aorta. Relations to vascular aging, hyperglycemia, and inflammation
Sammanfattning : A well-functioning arterial system for the transport of oxygen to the cells is essential for human health. The aorta has a key role for the provision of this physiological effect. Disturbances to aortic function can lead to majorsymptoms and even death due to ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). LÄS MER
