1. Mathematical Reasoning in Physics Tests : Requirements, Relations, Dependence
Sammanfattning : By analysing and expanding upon mathematical reasoning requirements in physics tests, this licentiate thesis aims to contribute to the research studying how students’ knowledge in mathematics influence their learning of physics. A sample of physics tests from the Swedish National Test Bank in Physics was used as data, together with information of upper secondary students’ scores and grades on the tests. LÄS MER
2. Drought Stress Signal Transduction by the HD-Zip Transcription Factors ATHB6 and ATHB7
Sammanfattning : This work describes the regulation of drought stress responses in Arabidopsis thaliana and adresses the roles of the homeodomain-leucine zipper (HD-Zip) transcription factors in this regulation. The characteristics of ATHB6 and ATHB7, two genes encoding class I HD-Zip transcription factors were analysed. LÄS MER
3. Magnetic ordering and crystal structure in selected transition- metal compounds
Sammanfattning : Applications of magnetic materials are inherently related to their crystal, magnetic and electronic structures. In this thesis, experimental and theoretical methods have been focused on magnetic bulk materials from novel chemical synthesis, to X-ray diffraction for initial phase characterisation, and crystal and magnetic structure studies to explain their complex magnetic properties. 4. On the modeling of large ratcheting strains and anisotropy in pearlitic steel
Sammanfattning : Thermodynamically consistent constitutive material models for describing the large strain response of polycrystalline metals are proposed. Emphasis is put on the multiaxial ratcheting under cyclic loading and the evolution of anisotropy in pearlitic steel. LÄS MER
5. Learning probabilistic models of dynamical phenomena using particle filters
Sammanfattning : Dynamical behavior can be seen in many real-life phenomena, typically as a dependence over time. This thesis studies and develops methods and probabilistic models for statistical learning of such dynamical phenomena.A probabilistic model is a mathematical model expressed using probability theory.
