1. Molecular responses of plants to solar UV-B and UV-A radiation
Sammanfattning : Plant responses to solar ultraviolet radiation (UV, 280-400 nm) were assessed at different molecular levels using Betula pendula Roth (silver birch) and Arabidopsis thaliana (Arabidopsis) as model species in outdoor experiments to assess the possibly interacting roles of the UV-B and UV-A wavebands in acclimation to sunlight. Solar UV-B (280-315 nm) and UV-A (315-400 nm) irradiance was attenuated with plastic films. LÄS MER
2. Modeling Carbon and Water Fluxes in European Terrestrial Ecosystems
Sammanfattning : The controlling mechanisms and feedbacks between climate, the carbon and water cycling and vegetation in European ecosystems have attracted much attention in recent years but they are still not sufficiently understood. A better understanding of them is necessary to predict how they will be affected by climate change. LÄS MER
3. Effects of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 and growth hormone on osteoblast-like cells
Sammanfattning : Bone remodeling, which occurs throughout life in both cancellous and cortical bone, involves mainly the osteoblasts and osteoclasts. The osteoblast is responsible for the production of matrix, which later becomes mineralized. The osteoclast is a large, multinuclear cell, which is responsible for bone resorption. LÄS MER
4. Molecular epidemiology studies on risk factors for breast cancer and disease aggressiveness
Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease. Aggressive subtypes are characterized by faster growth rates, increased capability to invade and metastasize, leading to poorer clinical outcomes. LÄS MER
5. Studies on the Performance Bounds and Design of Current-Steering DACs
Sammanfattning : Digital-to-analog converters (DACs) are key building blocks in various applications including radar and wireless communications. With the exponential growth of data throughput in modern communication standards, e.g. LÄS MER
