1. Asymptotics of random matrices and matrix valued processes
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains three parts. In the first two papers we consider spectral properties of symmetric matrices with elements consisting of independent Ornstein Uhlenbeck processes. The eigenvalues behave as a particle system on the real line with singular interaction consisting of electrostatic repulsion and a linear restoring force. LÄS MER
2. Regularity Properties of Oscillatory Integral Operators on Function Spaces
Sammanfattning : We establish regularity results for a variety of oscillatory integral operators, some of which introduced for the first time in this thesis, in general function spaces such as Besov-Lipschitz and Triebel-Lizorkin spaces. These estimates yield new local and global regularity results for evolutionary partial differential equations... LÄS MER
3. Chewing gum and human hair as retrospective dosimeters
Sammanfattning : Retrospective dosimeters are sometimes needed after radiological/nuclear (RN) exposures to determine the doses to individuals. Conventional dosimeters may not be at hand or may not be applicable calling for alternative materials. LÄS MER
4. Internationella komparativa studier av lagar om tvångsvård vid missbruk : -omfattning, trender och mänskliga rättigheter
Sammanfattning : The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights state that everyone has the right to good health. According to the conventions, the states have obligations to prevent and combat disease, and if necessary, ensure that the conditions for treatment of the disease are appropriate (UDHR 1948, UNCESCR 1966). 5. Host genetic factors and antibody responses with potential involvement in the susceptibility to malaria
Sammanfattning : The relatively lower susceptibility to malaria seen in the Fulani ethnic group in Africa, as compared to other sympatric ethnic groups, has been related to genetic regulation of the immune responses. This thesis aimed to describe important pathways related to the regulation of antibodies in the immune responses during a malaria infection. LÄS MER
