  1. 1. Influenza A Virus : Spatial analysis of influenza genome trafficking and the evolution of the neuraminidase protein

    Författare :Dan Dou; Robert Daniels; Martin Schwemmle; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Influenza A virus; IAV; neuraminidase; NA; IAV genome trafficking; viral entry; viral replication; co-infection; antigenic drift; antigenic shift; NA assembly; transmembrane domain; evolution; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Influenza A viruses (IAVs) are a common infectious agent that seasonally circulates within the human population that causes mild to severe acute respiratory infections. The severity of the infection is often related to how the virus has evolved with respect to the pre-existing immunity in the population. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Generalized trust and the collective action dilemma of immunization

    Författare :Björn Rönnerstrand; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Collective action; immunization; pandemics; A H1N1 ; generalized trust; reciprocity; social capital; Sweden; United States;

    Sammanfattning : Immunization is one of the most cost-efficient medical treatments available. But the potential for societies to secure the public health benefits generated by vaccinations can be reduced by the collective action dilemma of immunization. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Tamiflu in the Water : Resistance Dynamics of Influenza A Virus in Mallards Exposed to Oseltamivir

    Författare :Anna Gillman; Josef D Järhult; Björn Olsen; Shaman Muradrasoli; Elena Govorkova; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Influenza A virus; avian influenza; oseltamivir; neuraminidase inhibitors; resistance; environmental; Mallard; waterfowl; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The natural reservoir of influenza A virus (IAV) is wild waterfowl, and all human IAVs have their genetic origins from avian viruses. Neuraminidase inhibitors (NAIs) are currently the best drugs for treatment of human influenza; therefore, the orally available NAI oseltamivir (Tamiflu®) has been stockpiled worldwide as part of pandemic preparedness planning. 4. 4. Influenza Neuraminidase : Conserved features of a rapidly mutating virus

    Författare :Henrik Östbye; Pia Ädelroth; Anice Lowen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; influenza; virology; neuraminidase; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Influenza A viruses (IAVs) of the H1N1 and H3N2 serotypes are the major cause of seasonal influenza epidemics. IAVs are labeled based on the antigenic properties of the two surface glycoproteins and main antigens: hemagglutinin (HA/H) and neuraminidase (NA/N). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Nasal vaccination using novel mucosal adjuvants : with main focus on influenza A virus

    Författare :Tina Falkeborn; Jorma Hinkula; Marie Larsson; Britt Åkerlind; Anders Wallensten; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Influenza viruses have sporadically caused pandemics during the last century, with the most severe occurring in 1918 when the “Spanish flu”, an A/H1N1 influenza virus, passed around the globe killing about 20-100 million people. Today 250 000-500 000 deaths occur annually due to influenza virus or secondary infection after influenza, e.g. LÄS MER
