    Sammanfattning : Parkinson’s disease (PD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative disorders and it is caused by a loss of dopamine (DA) producing neurons in the basal ganglia in the brain. The PD patient suffers from motor symptoms such as tremor, bradykinesia and rigidity and treatment with levodopa (LD), the precursor of DA, has positive effects on these symptoms. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Radiotherapy in a FLASH : Towards clinical translation of ultra-high dose rate electron therapy

    Författare :Elise Konradsson; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Radiotherapy; Dosimetry; Ultra-high dose rate; Electron therapy; FLASH; Fysicumarkivet A:2023:Konradsson;

    Sammanfattning : FLASH radiotherapy (FLASH-RT) is a promising new approach to radiotherapy that has the potential to transform the field. By administering radiation at ultra-high dose rates (UHDR) on a millisecond timescale, FLASH-RT may increase normal tissue tolerance compared to conventional radiotherapy while maintaining the anti-tumoral effect. 3. 3. Radioluminescence : A simple model for fluorescent layers - analysis and applications

    Författare :Jan Lindström; Åsa Carlsson Tedgren; Eva Lund; Michael Sandborg; Ioannis Kandarakis; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : A phosphor or scintillator is a material that will emit visible light when struck by ionising radiation. In the early days of diagnostic radiology, it was discovered that the radiation dose needed to get an image on a film, could be greatly reduced by inserting a fluorescent layer of a phosphor in direct contact with the film. 4. 4. Fabrication, Simulation and Performance of Ultra-Thin Silicon Detectors-Development of a Detection System for Living Cell Irradiation

    Författare :Naseem Salim; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Abdel; micro-fabrication technology; ultra-thin silicon detector; single ions; SIHF; ΔE detector;

    Sammanfattning : For the development of a Single–Ion Hit Facility (SIHF) for living cells irradiation at the Lund Ion Beam Analysis facility (LIBAF), newly developed pre-cell detectors have been investigated. These detectors can determine the number of ions reaching the sample. Central to the thesis is their fabrication and characterization. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Photon Dose Calculations in a Fluence-Based Treatment Planning System: Data Processing, Implementation and Validation

    Författare :Lars Weber; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiobiologi; Nuclear medicine; Radiopharmaceutical technology; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik; Nukleärmedicin; radiobiology;

    Sammanfattning : The accuracy of dose calculations for various aspects of a treatment planning system (TPS) using an energy fluence beam modelling has been evaluated. The investigated TPS uses a beam model, which separates the energy fluence into a number of sources in the treatment head. LÄS MER
