1. Cardiorespiratory fitness, insulin sensitivity, and perceptions of obesity treatment in obese children and adolescents
Sammanfattning : Background and Aims: The childhood obesity epidemic is accelerating throughout the world and is associated with long-term medical and psychosocial consequences. To gain knowledge for clinical practice and further research, the overall aims of this thesis were to explore and describe obese children s and adolescents physical fitness, participation in organized physical activity, and insulin sensitivity (SI). 2. Physical performance and physical activity in the later stage post-stroke
Sammanfattning : Aims: The overall purpose of this thesis was to increase knowledge about physical performance and activity in the later stage post-stroke by measuring walking performance in different environments coupled to muscle strength, cardiorespiratory fitness evaluation and self-reported physical activity. Methods: The studies reported in the thesis included a total of 83 subjects with prior stroke living in the community and 144 clinically healthy subjects from the same area. LÄS MER
3. Disability and physical exercise in adults with myotonic dystrophy type 1

4. Post-polio syndrome : physiotherapeutic analysis and interventions
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents four studies focusing on outcomes of gait performance using gait analysis and/or the Six-minute-walk test (6MWT), in patients with post-polio syndrome (PPS). Further, resistance training in combination with Coenzyme Q10 (Q10) and intravenous immunoglobulin treatment (IvIg) in PPS patients was evaluated. LÄS MER
5. Physical capacity in individuals with cerebral palsy : problems, needs and resources, with special emphasis on locomotion
