  1. 6. Influence of serotonin on anxiety-like behavior in rat

    Författare :Robert Pettersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anxiety; Serotonin; SSRI;

    Sammanfattning : It is well-established that serotonin is involved in the regulation of mood and behaviour, partly implied by the therapeutic effect of prolonged treatment with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) on mood and anxiety disorders. However, the mechanisms behind the paradoxical exacerbation of anxiety described during initial treatment, as well as behind the therapeutic effects of prolonged treatment with SSRIs, remain poorly understood. 2. 7. Estrogen and Serotonin – old dogs, new tricks, Implications for pancreatic beta-cell function

    Författare :Alexander Balhuizen; Celiaki och diabetes; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diabetes; Estrogen; Serotonin; Pancreatic islets; Insulin resistance; Beta-cell function; GPCR;

    Sammanfattning : Islet hormone secretion is tightly regulated by metabolic status as well as local and circulating factors. These factors can activate different receptors on the pancreatic islet cells, for instance G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs). LÄS MER

  3. 8. Platelet serotonin function and personality traits in affective disorder

    Författare :Jolanta Neuger; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Serotonin; depression; panic disorder; platelets; personality; citalopram;

    Sammanfattning : Serotonin (5-HT, 5-hydroxytryptamine) is a neurotransmitter in the central nervous system which has been implicated m the aetiology and pathogenesis of affective disorders like depression and anxiety disorders. The serotonergic system has been shown to be involved in the modulation of mood, sleep, appetite, libido, energy and cognition and memory functions. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Clozapine as a dopamine D₁ receptor agonist

    Författare :Peter Salmi; Leif Lindström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :psykologi; Psychology;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives'. The present study had two major objectives; [1] to examine the specific role of dopamine D, and DM receptors in body temperature regulation in rats, and [2] to examine in vivo dopamine D, and Dm receptor agonist/antagonist properties of clozapine by use of core temperature measurements.Methods'. 5. 10. Development of positron emission tomography radioligands for the dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission systems

    Författare :Camilla Lundkvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :PET; Radioligand; Dopamine transporter; Serotonin transporter; 5-HT1A receptor; 5-HT2A receptor;

    Sammanfattning : The dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission systems are of central interest in relation to several neuropsychiatric disorders. The main objectives were to develop new suitable radioligands for positron emission tomography (PET) examinations of the dopamine transporter (DAT) as well as the serotonin 5-HT1A and 5-HT2A-receptors.
