  1. 1. On the Tissue-type Plasminogen Activator (t-PA) -7,351C>T Enhancer Polymorphism. Importance for endothelial t-PA gene expression and arterial thrombotic disease

    Författare :Anna Tjärnlund-Wolf; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :tissue-type plasminogen activator; plasminogen activator inhibitor type-1; polymorphism; endothelium; Sp1; gene expression; myocardial infarction; ischemic stroke;

    Sammanfattning : Local endothelial release of tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) is an important thromboprotective mechanism. Earlier work by our group has identified a common single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) at the t-PA locus (-7,351C>T), located within a GC-box in the retinoic acid (RA) and steroid hormone responsive t-PA enhancer. 2. 2. Genetic aspects of stroke : association and linkage studies in a northern Swedish population

    Författare :Per-Gunnar Wiklund; Birgitta Stegmayr; Kjell Asplund; Dan Holmberg; Alun Evans; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Internal medicine; stroke; genetics; polymorphism; association; linkage; risk factors; plasminogen activator inhibitor-1; tissue plasminogen activator; angiotensin converting enzyme; angiotensin II receptor type 1; phosphodiesterase 4D; Invärtesmedicin; Internal medicine; Invärtesmedicin; medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Stroke is a common, multifactorial cardiovascular disease. A stroke event is the result of traditional risk factors (i.e. hypertension, diabetes, smoking), environmental exposures and genetic factors in a complex interplay. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor 1 in Platelets - Studies of Synthesis, Activity, and Glycosylation Patterns

    Författare :Helén Brogren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :PAI-1; platelets; plasma; fibrinolysis; synthesis; polymorphism; glycosylation; activity; platelet mRNA;

    Sammanfattning : Plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) is the main physiological inhibitor of tissue-type plasminogen activator. Thus PAI-1 plays an important role in decreasing the fibrinolytic activity in human blood. PAI-1 is present in high concentrations in platelets and also in low concentrations in plasma, but the source of plasma PAI-1 is not known. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Risk factors in ischemic stroke

    Författare :Katarina Jood; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :stroke; ischemic stroke subtypes; genetics; polymorphism; fibrinolysis; obesity; stress;

    Sammanfattning : Ischemic stroke is a complex disease in which environmental and genetic factors make about equal contributions to the etiology. However, knowledge regarding the molecular basis of the genetic influence and the impact of specific lifestyle factors is limited. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regulation of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 : role of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins, fatty acids and fibrate compounds

    Författare :Lennart Nilsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :plasminogen activator inhibitor-1; coronary heart disease; endothelial cells; very low density lipoprotein VLDL ; 4G 5G polymorphism; VLDL response element; fibrate compounds; VLDL receptor; stroke;

    Sammanfattning : Impaired fibrinolytic function secondary to elevated plasma plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) activity is associated with atherothrombotic disease, in particular coronary heart disease. Both environmental and genetic factors contribute to determine plasma PAI-1 levels and PAI-1 production in vivo. LÄS MER
