Sammanfattning : Pairs of interconnected neurons form elementary information processing units within neocortical microcircuits. Pyramidal cells within these microcircuits receive synaptic input, both from their connected partners, and from more distant cortical and sub-cortical regions. Consequently, they require a means to identify relevant synaptic signals. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : The present study explored the gene and protein expression of the monoamine transporters in human endometrium throughout the menstrual cycle, in early decidua and in placentas from normal as well as preeclamptic pregnancies using in-situ hybridization, real time-PCR, immunohistochemistry and primary tissue cultures. Four distinguishable patterns were observed in the endometrium over the menstrual cycle: (1) epithelial expression of norepinephrine transporter (NET) mRNA, (2) Stromal co- expression of vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) and plasma membrane monoamine transporter (PMAT) mRNAs with maximal intensity in the proliferative phase; (3) increasing epithelial expression of VMAT2 mRNA with a maximum in the late secretory phase; (4) stromal expression of extra-neuronal monoamine transporter (EMT) mRNA with a peak in the early secretory phase. Sammanfattning : Women with pregestational diabetes have a 2-5 fold increased risk of giving birth to malformed babies compared with non-diabetic women. Diabetes-induced oxidative stress in maternal and embryonic tissues has been implicated in the teratogenic process. LÄS MER
5. Multiparametric MRI for evaluation of tumour treatment response Studies of 177Lu-octreotate therapy of neuroendocrine tumourDetta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis
Sammanfattning : Clinical assessment of tumour response to treatment largely relies on estimates of tumour size by, e.g., measuring the largest tumour diameters on magnetic resonance (MR) or computed tomography (CT) images, weeks or months after treatment. LÄS MER
