  2. 2. Microscopic Theory of Externally Tunable Exciton Signatures of Two-Dimensional Materials

    Författare :Maja Feierabend; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; localized states; density matrix formalism; magnetic field; transition metal dichalcogenides; Bloch equations; organic inorganic heterostructures; dark excitons; strain;

    Sammanfattning : Atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are in the focus of current research due to their efficient light-matter interaction and the remarkably strong Coulomb interaction that leads to tightly bound excitons. Due to their unique band structure, TMDs show a variety of bright and optically inaccessible dark excitonic states. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Ultrastructural Aspects of Pulp Fibers as Studied by Dynamic FT-IR Spectroscopy

    Författare :Margaretha Åkerholm; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :cellulose; cooperation; crystallinity; dynamic test; glucomannan; hardwood; holocellulose; humidity; infrared spectroscopy; kraft pulp; lignin; mechanical pulp; orientation; polarised light; softwood; strain; sulphite pulp; viscoelasticity; xylan;

    Sammanfattning : Dynamic (or 2D) FT-IR spectroscopy in combination withpolarized IR irradiation has been used in this work to studywood polymer orientation and interactions on theultrastructural level in wood fibers in the native state aswell as the effects of different pulping processes. The woodpolymer interactions were studied under both dry and humidconditions. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Strain echocardiography in the critically ill patient : Studies in patients with septic shock and subarachnoid haemorrhage

    Författare :Keti Dalla; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Strain echocardiography in ICU patients; Left ventricle; Right ventricle; Septic shock; Subarachnoid haemorrhage; Norepinephrine;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, strain echocardiography by two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (2D-STI), was used for the evaluation of left ventricular (LV) and right ventricular (RV) function in critically ill patients with septic shock and subarachnoid haemorrhage. The aims were to: 1) investigate the value of strain echocardiography for the early detection of LV and RV dysfunction not diagnosed with conventional echocardiography in severe sepsis and septic shock, 2) to study the effects of norepinephrine on RV systolic function and pulmonary haemodynamics in patients with norepinephrine-dependent septic shock 3) evaluate the use of strain echocardiography for detection of myocardial injury in patients with subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) and 4) study the impact of general anaesthesia and positive pressure ventilation (PPV) on RV and LV myocardial longitudinal strain. 5. 5. On the small strain stiffness of some Scandinavian clays and impact on deep excavation

    Författare :Tara Wood; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; soft clay; small strain stiffness; degradation; seismic testing; sample quality;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the results of a comprehensive study on the small strain stiffness of several Swedish clays and its tentative effect on the design of retaining structures. A combination of field measurement techniques, seismic dilatometer and surface seismics, are complemented with bender element testing of the retrieved samples. LÄS MER
