16. Mixed Block Copolymer Solutions: Self-Assembly and Interactions
Sammanfattning : This thesis incorporates studies on the aqueous systems of two types of thermoresponsive amphiphilic block copolymers; a series of nonionic triblock copolymers comprising blocks of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) denoted as PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymers, and a series of ionic diblock copolymers consisting of one charged block and one block of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAM). Various techniques, such as dynamic and static light scattering (DLS and SLS), small angle X-ray and neutron scattering (SAXS and SANS), high sensitivity differential scanning calorimetry (HSDSC), turbidimetry, electrophoretic mobility measurements, and two-dimensional proton NMR nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy (2D 1H NMR NOESY), were applied to study these block copolymer systems. 17. Enzymes for selective decoupling of woody biomass: From fundamentals to industrial potential
Sammanfattning : The need for an economy based on renewable materials has resulted in growing interest in the use of woody biomass in a wider field of application. However, the chemical complexity of lignocellulose and the dense structure of wood pose challenges in its processing. LÄS MER
18. Asymmetric catalysis : ligand design and microwave acceleration
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals partly with the design and synthesis ofligands for use in asymmetric catalysis, and partly with theapplication of microwave heating on metal-based asymmetriccatalytic reactions.Enantiomerically pure pyridyl alcohols and bipyridylalcohols were synthesized from the chiral pool for future usein asymmetric catalysis. 19. Ruthenium(II) Polypyridyl Complexes : Applications in Artificial Photosynthesis
Sammanfattning : Molecular mimics of PS II, which consist of a photosensitizer linked to electron acceptors/donors, are attractive candidates for the conversion of solar energy into chemical energy. Several different classes of sensitizers have been studied and among these, ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complexes continue to attract major attention. LÄS MER
20. Asymmetric Catalysis : Ligand Design and Conformational Studies
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the design of ligands for efficientasymmetric catalysis and studies of the conformation of theligands in the catalytically active complexes. All ligandsdeveloped contain chiral oxazoline heterocycles. LÄS MER
