  1. 1. Parastomal hernia : investigation and treatment

    Författare :Pia Näsvall; Karin Strigård; Jörgen Rutegård; Ulf Gunnarsson; Michael Dahlberg; Ingvar Syk; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Parastomal; hernia; 3D US; ultrasonography; mesh; QoL; rectal cancer; stoma; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : BackgroundParastomal hernia is a common stoma complication causing the patient considerable inconvenience. The patient becomes aware of a bulge around the stoma, but a bulge is not always a parastomal hernia and diagnostics must be performed to enable differential treatment. It is difficult to distinguish between a bulge and a hernia. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Treatment of Right Ventricular Failure through Partial Volume Exclusion : An Experimental Study

    Författare :Per Vikholm; Laila Hellgren; Lund Lars; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Right Heart Failure; Left Ventricular Assist Device; Glenn shunt; Thorax Surgery; Thoraxkirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Implantation of a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) is a potential treatment in terminal heart failure. Right ventricular (RV) failure is a severe complication in these patients and sometimes requires additional placement of a right ventricular assist device (RVAD). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Anorectal Malformations : Long-term outcome and aspects of secondary treatment

    Författare :Johan Danielson; Wilhelm Graf; Urban Karlbom; Tomas Wester; Olof Hallböök; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; anorectal malformation; faecal incontinence; long-term outcome; Krickenbeck; NASHA Dx;

    Sammanfattning : Faecal incontinence (FI) is defined as the inability to control bowel movements. The causes of FI are many and diverse. One of the more uncommon reasons for FI is Anorectal Malformations (ARMs). An ARM is a congenital anomaly that affects somewhere between 1/2500 and 1/5000 live born babies. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Abdominal compartment syndrome and colonic ischaemia after abdominal aortic aneurysm repair in the endovascular era

    Författare :Samuel Ersryd; Anders Wanhainen; Martin Björck; Khatereh Djavani; Anders Albäck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Aortic aneurysm-abdominal; Intra-abdominal pressure; Intra-abdominal hypertension; Abdominal compartment syndrome; Rupture; Open ab-domen treatment; Colonic ischaemia; Endovascular aneurysm repair; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Abdominal Compartment Syndrome (ACS) and colonic ischaemia (CI) are serious and potentially lethal complications after open (OSR) and endovascular repair (EVAR) of ruptured (rAAA) and intact (iAAA) abdominal aortic aneurysms. The aims of this thesis were to investigate the incidence, outcome, and risk factors associated with ACS (Papers I-III) and to evaluate extraluminal colonic tonometry for postoperative surveillance of colonic perfusion (Paper IV). 5. 5. Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair : Clinical and morphological outcomes

    Författare :Tina Hellgren; Kevin Mani; Santi Trimarchi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : In the years following its introduction in the late 1980’s, thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) rose as a minimally invasive alternative to open surgical repair of thoracic aortic disease. As a result, an expanding group of patients are receiving invasive treatment, even though evidence in the area is still scarce. LÄS MER
