1. Path-planning with obstacle-avoiding minimum curvature variation B-splines
Sammanfattning : We study the general problem of computing an obstacle-avoiding path that, for a prescribed weight, minimizes the weighted sum of a smoothness measure and a safety measure of the path. We consider planar curvature-continuous paths, that are functions on an interval of a room axis, for a point-size vehicle amidst obstacles. LÄS MER
2. L’acquisition des Catégories Fonctionnelles : Étude comparative du développement du DP français chez des enfants et des apprenants adultes
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the development of the DP (the Determiner Phrase) in bilingual first (2L1) and in adult second (L2) language acquisition of French. The thesis shows that the children and the adult Swedish learners acquire syntactic categories differently: the children follow a structural economy principle in positing as small categories as possible (Rizzi, 1998). 3. La Variabilité du pronom de la troisième personne en complément prépositionnel pour exprimer le réfléchi
Sammanfattning : Variability in the use of a linguistic feature is bound to create problems for the acquisition of this feature. Perhaps even more so, where the acquisition of a foreign language is concerned. But native speakers may also be puzzled by the choice they have to make and may not always be able to rely on rules. 4. Learning Idiomaticity : A Corpus-Based Study of Idiomatic Expressions in Learners' Written Production
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to investigate how Swedish learners of English (at different levels of proficiency) master idiomaticity in their target language. I argue that idiomaticity can be related to the storage and use of multi-word expressions that are preferred by native speakers. LÄS MER
5. Carlson type inequalities and their applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis treats inequalities of Carlson type, i.e. inequalities of the form∥f∥x≤K∏i=1m∥f∥Aiθiwhere ∑i=1mθi =1 and K is some constant, independent of the function f. X and Ai are normed spaces, embedded in some Hausdorff topological vector space. LÄS MER
