3. Measurement and control of oxygen fugacity by means of gaseous oxygen buffers
Sammanfattning : Fundamental and practical aspects of oxygen buffering are reviewed, with particular reference to the gaseous oxygen buffer as a tool in elevated temperature oxide chemistry. An oxygen buffer capacity concept and a classification scheme for oxygen buffers are proposed; their application is demonstrated. LÄS MER
4. Enantioselective synthesis of citric acid analogues
Sammanfattning : The enantioselective synthesis of (1S,2S)- and (1R,2S)- fluorocitric acid is described. Toxic fluorocitric acid formed enzymaticly from fluoroacetic acid has the 1R,2R configuration. The enzyme citrate (si)-synthase catalyzes the formation of all four isomers of fluorocitric acid. LÄS MER
5. Structural studies of two polysaccharides containing aminohexuronic acid residues and related analytical problems
Sammanfattning : The structures of two capsular polysaccharide antigens from Streptococcus pneumoniae, types 12A and 12F, have been investigated. During sugar analysis of these polysaccharides an artefact, identified as l,5-dideoxy-l,5-imino-D-mannitol, was formed from the D-mannosaminuronic acid present in the hydrolysate. LÄS MER
