  1. 1. Fishy behavior : persistent effects of early-life exposure to 17α-ethinylestradiol

    Författare :Kristina Volkova; Inger Porsch Hällström; Svante Winberg; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Endocrine disruptors; anxiety; stress behavior; transgenerational effects; 17α-ethinylestradiol; developmental exposure; social behavior; fish; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : The synthetic estrogen 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2) is an endocrine disrupting chemical (EDC) of concern due to its persistent nature and widespread presence in the aquatic environment. In mammals, effects of developmental EDC exposure on reproduction and behavior not only persist to adulthood after discontinued exposure, but are also inherited by several consecutive unexposed generations. 2. 2. Endocrine disruption in fish : Effects of 17α-ethinylestradiol exposure on non-reproductive behavior, fertility and brain and testis transcriptome

    Författare :Tove Porseryd; Inger Porsch Hällström; Ioanna Katsiadaki; Södertörns högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 17α-ethinylestradiol; endocrine disrupting chemical; fish; behavior; fertility; transcriptome; RNA sequencing; Environmental Studies; Miljövetenskapliga studier; Östersjö- och Östeuropaforskning; Baltic and East European studies;

    Sammanfattning : Aquatic environments are the end recipient for most anthropogenic chemical pollutants. One common chemical pollutant found in the aquatic environment is 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2), a synthetic estrogen used in contraceptive pills. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Aquatic organisms on the pill - effects on different organizational levels

    Författare :Per Hallgren; Enhet akvatisk ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; EDC; EE2; 17α-ethinylestradiol; fish; zooplankton; gastropods; population growth rates; direct and indirect effects; somatic growth; invertebrates;

    Sammanfattning : Communities are composed of organisms that interact with each other and with the non-biological environment. There are also anthropogenic pollutants in the environment that also interact with the organisms. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Hitting the mark : studies of alterations in behaviour and fertility in ethinyl estradiol-exposed zebrafish and search related biomarkers

    Författare :Nasim Reyhanian Caspillo; Inger Porsch Hällström; Per-Erik Olsson; Håkan Olsén; Leif Norrgren; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Endocrine disrupting compounds; 17α-ethinylestradiol; fertility; anxiety; behaviour; zebrafish; biomarkers; stress; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we have analysed the effects of EE2 on non-reproductive behaviours and fertility. We have showed that two doses of EE2 in male adult short-term exposures evokes opposite behaviours in the novel tank test. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Estrogen receptor and multixenobiotic resistance genes in freshwater fish and snails: identification and expression analysis after pharmaceutical exposure

    Författare :Cecilia Hultin; Miljövetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; EE2; NSAID; estrogen receptor; oestrogen receptor; multixenobiotic resistance; fish; gastropods;

    Sammanfattning : Pharmaceuticals are today released into aquatic environments where they can interfere with organisms' biological processes.The general research objective was to analyze how aquatic freshwater organisms are affected by exposure to pharmaceuticals that are categorized by the EU as potential risk factors to the environment (i.e. LÄS MER
