1. Limit Laws, Homogenizable Structures and Their Connections
Sammanfattning : This thesis is in the field of mathematical logic and especially model theory. The thesis contain six papers where the common theme is the Rado graph R. Some of the interesting abstract properties of R are that it is simple, homogeneous (and thus countably categorical), has SU-rank 1 and trivial dependence. LÄS MER
2. Sagans svenskar : Synen på vikingatiden och de isländska sagorna under 300 år
Sammanfattning : “The Swedes of the Sagas. A Historiographical Study of the Old Norse Sagas and the Construction of the Viking Age.” This thesis is related to the construction of collective identities, and the search for a common ancestry. LÄS MER
3. Loss Minimisation in Dynamic Food Processes
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the present work was to reduce losses during product changes or during rinsing in continuous food processing, with particular attention to dairy plants. The concept of sensor fusion of common process instruments was implemented as a tool to monitor the milk and fat concentrations in a dairy processing line. LÄS MER
4. Electrochemical and ion transport characterisation of a nanoporous carbon derived from SiC
Sammanfattning : In this doctoral project, a relatively new form of carbon material, with unique narrow pore size distribution around 7 Å and with uniform structure, has been electrochemically characterised using the single particle microelectrode technique. The carbon has been used as electrode material for supercapacitors. LÄS MER
5. Random Geometry and Reinforced Jump Processes
Sammanfattning : This thesis comprises three papers studying several mathematical models related to geometric Markov processes and random processes with reinforcements. The main goal of these works is to investigate the dynamics as well as the limiting behaviour of the models as time goes to infinity, the existence of invariant measures and limiting distributions, the speed of convergence and other interesting relevant properties.
