1. From Macro to Nano : Electrokinetic Transport and Surface Control
Sammanfattning : Today, the growing and aging population, and the rise of new global threats on human health puts an increasing demand on the healthcare system and calls for preventive actions. To make existing medical treatments more efficient and widely accessible and to prevent the emergence of new threats such as drug-resistant bacteria, improved diagnostic technologies are needed. 2. Covalent Vapor-Phase Grafting of Degradable Polymers
3. Leg ulcer management in primary care with special reference to pinch grafting
Sammanfattning : Wound management in primary and community care was investigated throughout a period of 12 years within a well-defined population in one county in Southern Sweden. The estimated prevalence of chronic leg and foot ulcers was 0.19% in 1998 and the mean prevalence was 0.20% during the years 1994-1998. LÄS MER
4. Relating the Bulk and Interface Structure of Hyaluronan to Physical Properties of Future Biomaterials
Sammanfattning : This dissertation describes a structural investigation of hyaluronan (HA) with neutron scattering techniques. HA is a natural biopolymer and one of the major components of the extracellular matrix, synovial fluid, and vitreous humor. LÄS MER
5. Use of neural progenitor cell lines and astrocytes for transplantation and gene transfer to the CNS
Sammanfattning : Intracerebral neuronal transplantation have been shown to ameliorate symptoms of brain dysfunction in both animals models and Parkinson's disease, although problems still remain. The newly introduced technique of ex vivo gene transfer could serve as an alternative approach, possible avoiding some of the draw-backs of the embryonal tissue used in neuronal grafting. LÄS MER
