1. Low-Coordinate Organopnictogens : Synthesis and Optoelectronic properties
Sammanfattning : This thesis work is based on the development of novel organopnictogen compounds and the exploration of their potential applications in organic electronics. In particular, incorporation of phosphorus and arsenic into π-conjugated systems is known to modify the optoelectronic properties. LÄS MER
2. Phosphorus Centers in π-conjugated Systems
Sammanfattning : Single-molecular electronics and organic material electronics are expanding research fields that ultimately aim for a vast variety of different applications, ranging from organic light-emitting diodes, to novel ways to improve the performance and decrease the size of electronics components. To achieve these goals, research has to be focused both on the development of functional molecules, but also on device fabrication. LÄS MER
3. Functional and Modular As=C and P=C Group Motifs
Sammanfattning : This work focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application projections of low-coordinated heavy pnictogen-containing (described by the generic letter E, hence E=C) phosphaalkenes (P=C) and arsaalkenes (As=C), with emphasis on the E=C group motifs. The work aims to understand their functional and modular character, reactivity, and potential applications by stabilizing, isolating, and characterizing these species in low-coordination environments. 4. Hyperconjugation in Group 14 Organic Compounds : Design and Property Investigations
Sammanfattning : Nowadays π-conjugated molecules are widely used as materials for devices in organic and molecular electronics. This is due to the ability of such molecules to conduct electricity. However, π-conjugation leads to molecular rigidness and associated lower solubility, which limits possible applications. LÄS MER
5. Towards flexible organic electronics : photoelectron spectroscopy of surfaces and interfaces
Sammanfattning : Intensive studies of conjugated molecules and polymers are carried out all over the world with the intent of obtaining cheap and efficient organic electronic devices. The most mature application at the moment is the light-emitting diode, but also photovoltaic cells and different types of transistors shows promising results. LÄS MER
