  1. 16. Inflammatory Reactions in Peritonitis and Malignant Obstructive Jaundice : Clinical and Experimental Studies with Special Emphasis on the Cellular Immune Response

    Författare :Johanna Österberg; Ulf Haglund; Mikael Ljungdahl; Roland Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; CLP; sepsis; peritonitis; bacterial translocation; malignant obstructive jaundice; Linomide; COX inhibitor; SC-236; indometacin; T lymphocyte; macrophage; mucosa; MLN; gut immune cell distribution; mucosal injury; cytokines; TNF-α; IL-6; IL-10; endotoxin; caspase-3; apoptosis; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with peritonitis or malignant obstructive jaundice (HPB+) have an increased morbidity and mortality due to sepsis. An altered cell-mediated immunity in the intestinal mucosa might promote gut barrier failure, increased endotoxin and cytokine release and bacterial translocation (BT) in these conditions. LÄS MER

  2. 17. We want you as our new recruit : Prerequisites for recruitment to and retention in the Swedish Armed Forces

    Författare :Johan Österberg; Leif W Rydstedt; Olav Kjellevold Olsen; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; conscription; recruitment; all-volunteer force; retention; Swedish Armed Forces; Psykologi; Psychology; Ledarskap under påfrestande förhållanden;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to study the prerequisites for the Swedish Armed Forces (SAF) in order to recruit sufficient numbers of suitable individuals to the organization, and to retain those within the organization.The thesis comprises three studies (Study 1-3) where Study One comprises data gathered, with a longitudinal design, when Sweden relied on conscription for the manning of the Armed Forces. 3. 18. Vascular Wall Responses to Bypass Grafting - Studies in Mice

    Författare :Klas Österberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Intimal hyperplasia; graft stenosis; smooth muscle cells; mice; cellular recruitment;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Vein grafts are frequently used in bypass surgery for treatment of coronary artery disease and lower limb ischemia. Unfortunately the long-term patency is impaired by vein graft stenoses due to intimal hyperplasia (IH). It is assumed that exaggerated intimal thickening is initiated by vessel wall injuries or local flow disturbances. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Characterization of genetic alterations in ovarian cancer associated with chemotherapy response

    Författare :Lovisa Österberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Oncology; ovarian cancer; chemotherapy resistance; predictive markers;

    Sammanfattning : Ovarian cancer is the most lethal of all gynecological malignancies, and exhibit an overall fiveyear survival rate of only 48% in Sweden. The high mortality in ovarian cancer is largely due to late diagnosis and chemotherapy resistance. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Towards a comprehensive modeling framework for studying glucose repression in yeast

    Författare :Linnea Österberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; budding yeast; glucose repression; metabolism; mathematical modelling; signaling;

    Sammanfattning : The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is an important model organism for human health and for industry applications as a cell factory. For both purposes, it has been an important organism for studying glucose repression. LÄS MER
