    Sammanfattning : Åsa Jernudd: Movies and Entertainment in Örebro 1897-1908This dissertation is a historical study of film exhibition in the context of emerging popular entertainment in Örebro, a medium-sized town in Sweden, 1897 to 1908. It argues that since 80% of the population resided in towns and rural areas around 1900, studying the impact of film culture in a town setting is essential for an understanding of early film culture in Sweden.     Sammanfattning : In the beginning of the 1990s the responsibility for the compulsory schools shifted from the government to the local authorities, a freedom of choice was introduced, and several municipalities brought in a school voucher system. With these changes, the educational system in Sweden went from being one of the world’s most government dominated and unified, to one with a high level of freedom of choice. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : From the time of the establishment of Christianity in Sweden to the middle of the Nineteenth Century all childeren were baptised. In Örebro, in central Sweden, the baptism custom was subsequently broken and weakend. Örebro is in many ways an extreme case. In 1910 only 82 percent of children were baptised. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The dissertation takes its theoretical departure in the concept of citizenship, conceptualised here both as a status, carrying a wide range of rights, and as a practice, involving both obligations and political participation. The investigation focuses on women in local political parties, trade unions, women's organizations for temperance, philanthropy and the franchise, and women's networks in Örebro. LÄS MER
