  1. 1. Cognition Seen Through the Eyes of Hearing Aid Users : Working Memory Resource Allocation for Speech Perception and Recall

    Författare :Andreea Micula; Jerker Rönnberg; Elaine Hoi Ning Ng; Piers Dawes; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Working memory; Free recall; Pupillary responses; Noise reduction; Arbetsminne; Återgivning; Pupillmätning; Brusreducering;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates how hearing aid users allocate working (WM) memory resources under various task demands when listening to and storing speech in memory for later recall. This was done by combining an auditory recall task, the Sentence-final Word Identification and Recall (SWIR) test, with pupillometry. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Cognition in Hearing Aid Users : Memory for Everyday Speech

    Författare :Hoi Ning Elaine Ng; Jerker Rönnberg; Mary Rudner; Thomas Lunner; Kevin Munro; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Hearing aid; working memory; free recall; noise reduction; speech recognition; Hörapparat; arbetsminne; återgivning; brusreducering; taluppfattning;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis investigated the importance of cognition for speech understanding in experienced and new hearing aid users. The aims were 1) to develop a cognitive test (Sentence-final Word Identification and Recall, or SWIR test) to measure the effects of a noise reduction algorithm on processing of highly intelligible speech (everyday sentences); 2) to investigate, using the SWIR test, whether hearing aid signal processing would affect memory for heard speech in experienced hearing aid users; 3) to test whether the effects of signal processing on the ability to recall speech would interact with background noise and individual differences in working memory capacity; 4) to explore the potential clinical application of the SWIR test; and 5) to examine the relationship between cognition and speech recognition in noise in new users over the first six months of hearing aid use. 3. 3. Ambiguities Thereafter - An Interpretive Approach to Acquisitions

    Författare :Anette Risberg; Företagsekonomiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; mergers; employee experiences; communication; Acquisitions; ambiguity; Organizational science; Organisationsteori;

    Sammanfattning : While the human side of mergers and acquisitions is increasingly focused in both research and practice, it still suffers from several forms of oversimplifications. This study addresses the problem of how various employees interpret objectives, corporate identity and other meanings associated with the post-acquisition process, and what roles these multiple interpretations play during this critical process. 4. 4. Cognitive Interactive Robot Learning

    Författare :Benjamin Fonooni; Hellström Thomas; Lars Erik Janlert; Christian Balkenius; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Learning from Demonstration; Imitation Learning; Human Robot Interaction; High-Level Behavior Learning; Shared Control; Cognitive Architectures; Cognitive Robotics; Priming; business data processing; administrativ databehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Building general purpose autonomous robots that suit a wide range of user-specified applications, requires a leap from today's task-specific machines to more flexible and general ones. To achieve this goal, one should move from traditional preprogrammed robots to learning robots that easily can acquire new skills. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Visual grading evaluation of reconstruction methods and dose optimisation in abdominal Computed Tomography

    Författare :Bharti Kataria; Michael Sandborg; Örjan Smedby; Anders Persson; Hannibal Sökjer; Håkan Geijer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Since its introduction in the 1970’s CT has emerged as a modality of choice because of its high sensitivity in producing accurate diagnostic images. A third of all Computed Tomography (CT) examinations are abdominal CTs which deliver one of the highest doses among common examinations. LÄS MER
