1. Expression and function of Suppressor of zeste 12 in Drosophila melanogaster
Sammanfattning : The development of animals and plants needs a higher order of regulation of gene expression to maintain proper cell state. The mechanisms that control what, when and where a gene should (or should not) be expressed are essential for correct organism development. LÄS MER
2. Regulation and function of Pax-6 during head and eye development in Drosophila melanogaster
Sammanfattning : In Drosophila melanogaster, eyeless and twin of eyeless have important function during eye development. Mutants of both genes give a variety of eye and head phenotypes with the strongest being almost headless meaning that they lack all structures derived from the eye-antennal disc. LÄS MER
3. Genetic analysis of genes found on the 4th chromosome of Drosophila - emphasizing the developmental context of Pax6
Sammanfattning : The small size and the lack of recombination set the fourth chromosome of Drosophila melanogaster apart from the other chromosomes. I have shown that the Minute gene on chromosome 4, earlier named Minute-4, encodes the ribosomal protein RpS3A. Two Pax6 genes, eyeless (ey) and twin of eyeless (toy) are also located on chromosome 4. LÄS MER
4. Harnessing the power of model systems to investigate regulation of Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase function
Sammanfattning : The anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK), initially identified as a translocation partner in anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), has been described in a number of tumors such as neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a neural crest derived malignancy of the sympathetic nervous system. LÄS MER
5. Regulatory proteins and the regulation of immune response in Drosophila melanogaster
Sammanfattning : Insect antibacterial peptides are regulated at the transcriptional level. The otherwise silent antibacterial Cecropin genes are strongly induced upon bacterial challenge. LÄS MER
