  1. 1. An in situ spectro-electrochemical study of aluminium/polymer interfaces : development of ATR-FTIR and its integration with EIS for corrosion studies

    Författare :Maria Öhman; Christofer Leygraf; Jan-Olov Nilsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; : ATR-FTIR; EIS; spectro-electrochemical; interface; aluminium; polymer; Other chemistry; Övrig kemi;

    Sammanfattning : In order to extend the applications of aluminium, organic coatings may be applied on sheet materials, for instance for corrosion protection or aesthetic surface finish purposes in the automotive and construction industries, or on foil materials in the flexible packaging industry. The most common mechanisms for deterioration and structural failure of organically coated aluminium structures are triggered by exposures to the surrounding environment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Development of a novel zeolite coated ATR-FTIR sensor

    Författare :Mattias Grahn; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical Technology; Kemisk teknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Thin zeolite films have great potential in several novel application areas such as: structured catalysts, membranes and sensors. To fully exploit the advantages of these films it is of great importance to determine the properties of the films. LÄS MER

  3. 3. In Search of Scientific Methods for Conservation of Historic Silk Costumes

    Författare :Johanna Nilsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; silk; artificial ageing; Queen Christina; historic costumes; conservation; ATR-FTIR; SEC; DRIFTS; tensile tests;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this dissertation is to lay ground for the evaluation of conservation methods for historic costumes. The Royal Armoury, Stockholm has a large number of 17th century men’s garments, many of them made of silk and in need of conservation. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This work focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application projections of low-coordinated heavy pnictogen-containing (described by the generic letter E, hence E=C) phosphaalkenes (P=C) and arsaalkenes (As=C), with emphasis on the E=C group motifs. The work aims to understand their functional and modular character, reactivity, and potential applications by stabilizing, isolating, and characterizing these species in low-coordination environments. 5. 5. The Mussel Adhesive Protein (Mefp-1) : A GREEN Corrosion Inhibitor

    Författare :Fan Zhang; Jinshan Pan; Douglas C. Hansen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbon steel; mussel adhesive protein; Mefp-1; inhibitor; adsorption; film forming; complexation; cross-linking; ceria nanoparticle; composite film; EIS; AFM; QCM-D; ATR-FTIR; Confocal Raman Micro-spectroscopy; DFT calculation;

    Sammanfattning : Corrosion of metallic materials is a natural process, and our study shows that even in an alkaline environment severe corrosion may occur on a carbon steel surface. While corrosion cannot be stopped it can be retarded. LÄS MER
