Bibelsyn : Tillkomst, tolkning och giltighet : [origin, interpretation and validity]

Sammanfattning: This dissertation addresses a number of fundamental questions raised by theological actualisation of the Bible. The purpose of this study is to give an overview of some of these basic issues, to analyse their structures and to engage in a critical and constructive discussion of how such questions can be treated so as to arrive at well-founded and nuanced theological views of the Bible.A brief outline is given of seven problematic areas concerning views of the Bible: (1) theextent of canon, (2) the origin of the Bible, (3) interpretation and application theory, (4)biblical theology, (5) validity and authority, (6) the religious functions of the Bible and (7)meta-level issues, e.g. questions related to the (lack of) conceptual clarity in differentviews of the Bible, and questions concerning how such views affect Christian identity andspirituality. Three of this issues are focused upon in more detail: origin, interpretation andvalidity.The origin of the Bible as a theological problem has reference to such classical themesas inspiration and revelation. Especial attention is paid to the relation between history,revelation and the Bible.Text-hermeneutical issues are dealt with, starting in the concept of understanding.Basic standards for the interpretation of biblical texts are separated from standards forapplication. A differentiated model is given for understanding and dealing with theapplication of biblical texts.Issues are treated concerning the validity or authority of the Bible, taking as the basis ofthe discussion different concepts of truth and different opinions concerning the argumentational rationality of Christian theology. The validity of the Bible is related to various spheres of human life and defined as a question of its rational and ethical tenability as well as its existential and theological experiential significance and attraction.
