Planindikatorer för effektiv markanvändning i stationsnära områden

Sammanfattning: Efficient spatial planning in areas near nodes in the public transportation system is an important measure to influence transport mode choice and favour public transportation over private cars for personal transportation. Efficient spatial planning involves concentration of activities within walking distance to the station as well as measures to integrate the station and its surroundings in the urban fabric and to improve station accessibility as a local destination point. The aim of the thesis is to develop a planning tool based on planning indicators and to explore possibilities and problems when indicators and models are used in a local planning situation. The project is inspired by a need for validated planning indicators. These indicators describe land use characteristics and urban form factors that both influence local accessibility and have an impact on the use of public transportation. These indicators can be used as tools to compare alternative spatial plans and strategies as well as to facilitatedialogue in local planning situations that involve actors with different backgrounds. Case studies are used as a starting-point to evaluate specific planning indicators and to evaluate the method in local planning situations. One general conclusion is that it takes a combination of quantitative and qualitative criteria to describe important aspects in such a way to support dialogues.
