Sammanfattning: In this thesis a new perspective to Computational Support in Product Development is presented. It is explained and discussed how computational simulation can be used to achieve shorter lead time and better quality in the product development process. The approach proposed is to use a generic and process based sequential decomposition of computational simulation activities in a product development project. This methodology seeks to ensure that the best methods and tools are used in all stages of a project and that critical weaknesses can be identified and improved. Relevant data flow and methods are identified and tested on real cases, in different applications and for different methods to develop and test the methodology. The approach and the results have been tested and also implemented in industrial practices.
