  2. 2. Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Mesoscopic Wires

    Författare :Sara Blom; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Rabi oscillations; conductance quantization; free electron model; mesoscopic; microwave; channel; force fluctuations; adiabatic; nanowire;

    Sammanfattning : The mechanical and electrical properties of mesoscopic wires have been studied theoretically using a free electron model. When a mesoscopic wire is elongated the conductance decreases in steps. Each step is accompanied by an abrupt change in the force. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Electronic properties of double quantum wires in a magnetic field

    Författare :Sviatoslav Korepov; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The electronic properties of double quantum wires (DQW) in presence of a per-pendicular magnetic field are investigated theoretically. Analytical solution of theproblem of electronic spectrum is obtained in the framework of the two-subbandmodel for the DQW. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cathodoluminescence Studies of Quantum Structures and III-V nitrides

    Författare :Anders Petersson; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; AlGaN; Fysik; Physics; GaN-AlGaN; single dot spectroscopy; InP-GaInP; Stranski Krastanow; quantum dots; quantum wires; low-dimensional structures; InAs-GaAs; III-V nitride; Cathodoluminescence; III-V semiconductors; Fysicumarkivet A:1999:Petersson;

    Sammanfattning : Characterization of low-dimensional semiconductor structures is a challenging task. The thesis is based on experiments, using cathodoluminescence (CL) as a tool for characterization. The high spatial resolution and the possibility of spectroscopy of small structures make CL one of the most powerful techniques for these types of investigations. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Hybrid Solvers for the Maxwell Equations in Time-Domain

    Författare :Fredrik Edelvik; Per Lötstedt; Jan Hesthaven; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Maxwell s equations; time-domain; finite volume methods; finite element methods; hybrid solver; dispersive materials; thin wires; Beräkningsvetenskap; Scientific Computing;

    Sammanfattning : The most commonly used method for the time-domain Maxwell equations is the Finite-Difference Time-Domain method (FDTD). This is an explicit, second-order accurate method, which is used on a staggered Cartesian grid. The main drawback with the FDTD method is its inability to accurately model curved objects and small geometrical features. LÄS MER
