  1. 16. Application of aerobic granular sludge for municipal wastewater treatment - Process performance and microbial community dynamics under fluctuating conditions

    Författare :Jennifer Ekholm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; energy usage; aerobic granular sludge; sequencing batch reactors; granulation; municipal wastewater treatment; nutrient removal; start-up; microbial community dynamics; full-scale operation; low temperature; activated sludge;

    Sammanfattning : Pressures of growing cities, competition for use of urban areas and higher influent loads, are pushing for innovative technologies for wastewater treatment with low demands for land footprint and costs. Furthermore, wastewater treatment is needed to move towards a circular economy by harvest of valuable resources such as nutrients and energy. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Characterization of Bacterial Biofilms for Wastewater Treatment

    Författare :Sofia Andersson; Gunnel Dalhammar; Bo Mattiasson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biofilm; extracellular polymeric substances; exopolysaccharides; interspecies interactions; wastewater treatment; denitrification; phosphorus removal; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Research performed at the Division of Environmental Microbiology has over the last years resulted in the isolation of possible bacterial key-organisms with efficient nutrient removal properties (Comamonas denitrificans, Brachymonas denitrificans, Aeromonas hydrophila). Effective use of these organisms for enhanced nutrient removal in wastewater treatment applications requires the strains to be retained, to proliferate and to maintain biological activity within theprocess. 3. 18. Monitoring Wastewater Treatment Systems

    Författare :Christian Rosén; Industriell elektroteknik och automation; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : This work considers various techniques to extract information from the vast amount of data collected at a modern wastewater treatment plant. If the information extracted is to be considered reliable is highly dependent on the data screening. Data screening includes validation and quality improvement of data. LÄS MER

  4. 19. On-site wastewater treatment : Polonite and other filter materials for removal of metals, nitrogen and phosphorus

    Författare :Agnieszka Renman; Per-Erik Jansson; Lars D. Hylander; Gunno Renman; Björn Klöve; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; alkaline materials; heavy metals; mechanisms; nutrient removal; sorption; speciation modelling; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Bed filters using reactive materials are an emerging technology for on-site wastewater treatment. Chemical reactions transfer contaminants from the aqueous to the solid phase. Phosphorus is removed from domestic wastewater by sorption to filter materials, which can then be recycled to agriculture as fertilisers and soil amendments. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Indigenous microalgae-activated sludge cultivation system for wastewater treatment

    Författare :Anbarasan Anbalagan; Emma Nehrenheim; Carl-Fredrik Lindberg; Sebastian Schwede; Raquel Labrero; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The municipal wastewater is mainly composed of water containing anthropogenic wastes that are rich in nutrients such as carbon, nitrogen and phosphorous. The cost for biological treatment of wastewater is increasing globally due to the population growth in urban cities. LÄS MER
