  1. 1. In vitro Pharmacodynamics of Antifungal Agents in the Treatment of Candida Infections

    Författare :Anders Lignell; Jan Sjölin; Elisabeth Löwdin; Mats Kalin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; amphotericin B; antagonism; Candida; human serum; inhibition; interaction; in vitro; kinetic model; pharmacodynamics; pharmacokinetics; posaconazole; protein binding; voriconazole; Infectious diseases; Infektionssjukdomar; Infektionssjukdomar; Infectious Diseases;

    Sammanfattning : Pharmacodynamic studies are important for the optimal use of antimicrobial agents. Combination antifungal therapy may be one method to improve outcome in invasive Candida infections. LÄS MER

  2. 2. 24s-Hydroxycholesterol : studies on regulatory mechanisms behind its formation in the brain and its potential use as a marker for neurodegeneration

    Författare :Marjan Shafaati; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cholesterol 24-hydroxylase (CYP46A1) belongs to the cytochrome P450 super family and is responsible for conversion of cholesterol to the oxysterol 24S- hydroxycholesterol (24S-OHC). This structural modification allows 24S-OHC to traverse the blood brain barrier and this pathway is the major one for elimination of cholesterol from the mammalian brain. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Malassezia-related diseases

    Författare :Aditya Gupta; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Malassezia; dermatoses; yeasts; pityriasis versicolor; atopic dermatitis; seborrheic dermatitis; psoriasis;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis is to investigate whether the new taxonomy of Malassezia may have important clinical implications. In particular, the studies look at pityriasis versicolor and other dermatological disorders associated with Malassezia yeasts to see whether there is a clear association between the yeast species and body site colonized and/or disease state.
