    Sammanfattning : The main causes for monocular visual loss in childhood are amblyopia and injury, and in the case of poor vision in both eyes refractive errors, the principle cause being myopia.     Sammanfattning : Purpose: The present studies address the questions if visual dysfunction in severely visually impaired children can be measured with contrast tests high or low, how it relates to their visual abilities assessed with behavioural methods and if visual function in these children can be improved by neuro-pharmacological treatment. Methods: Twenty children aged 6-16 years from the Al-Maktoom school for visually impaired children in Islamabad, Pakistan were included in the first study and 22 children aged 6-14 years in the second study.     Sammanfattning : In a prospective, population-based study of a weIl defined geographical area in Sweden, an ROP incidence of 40.4% was found among 260 prematurely born infants with a birth weight of 1500 grams or less. Cryotherapy was performed in 10.8% of the infants. LÄS MER
