1. Ventilation Performance in Operating Rooms : A Numerical Assessment
Sammanfattning : Surgical site infections (SSIs) remain one of the most challenging postoperative complicationsof healthcare and threaten the lives of millions of patients each year. Current evidence hasshown a positive relationship between the airborne concentration of bacteria-carryingparticles (BCPs) in the operating room (OR) and the rate of infections. LÄS MER
2. Modelling of Turbulent Flow and Heat Transfer for Building Ventilation
Sammanfattning : This thesis contributes to studies on the assessment of building ventilation performance and the development of turbulence models accounting for Low-Reynolds-number (LRN) effects and buoyant convection with heat transfer. Assessments of building ventilation performance are discussed with respect to indoor air distribution and passive contaminant dispersion. LÄS MER
3. Advances in Ventilation Heat Recovery : An assessment of peak loads shaving using renewables
Sammanfattning : The building sector accounts for approximately 40% of total global energy usage. In residential buildings located in cold climate countries, 30-60% of this energy isused for space heating, 20–30% is lost by discarded residential wastewater, and therest is devoted to ventilation heat loss. 4. A Systematic Approach to Integrated Building Performance Assessment and Visualisation
Sammanfattning : The aim of this project was to develop a holistic approach to building-performance assessment without limiting it to energy use (usually expressed in kWh/m2/year), but rather include more parameters that represent the following aspects: Economic, environmental, and quality of service provided to the occupant/client. If it can be shown that buildings can be operated not only in an energy-efficient way, but also in a way that takes into consideration the needs of the occupants, a case could be built that a higher quality of indoor environment does not necessarily mean a higher economic impact. 5. Environmental assessment of the urban environment
Sammanfattning : This thesis gives a systematic description of theEnvironmental Load Profile (ELP), an environmental assessmenttool developed for the urban environment. The purpose of thework was to improve the stringency of the system boundaries andfunctional units of the tool. LÄS MER
