1. Postpartum Ultrasound
Sammanfattning : This study was undertaken to investigate the involutional changes of the uterus and uterine cavity by ultrasound (US), gray-scale and Doppler, after normal delivery, and to compare with the corresponding findings from women with puerperal complications, particularly retained placental tissue (RPT). The overall design was exploratory and prospective, with the use of descriptive statistics for analysis. LÄS MER
2. Perfluorocarbon microdroplets stabilized by cellulose nanofibers : Toward ultrasound-mediated diagnostics and therapy
Sammanfattning : Ultrasound contrast agents consist of gas-filled micrometer-sized bubbles that are injectedinto the blood stream. Ultrasound contrast agents are an invaluable tool for ultrasound imaging of the cardiac muscle and highly vascularized structures such as kidneys and the liver. LÄS MER
3. Advancements of 2D speckle tracking of arterial wall movements
Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide. In order to improve the diagnostics and facilitate early interventions of cardiovascular diseases, knowledge about the physiology of the vascular system in both healthy subjects and in subjects with vascular disease is needed. 4. Structural health monitoring of concrete structures using diffuse waves
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis has aimed to investigate and implement techniques for ultrasonic measurements in structural health monitoring applications for civil structures. The focus of the work has been to make these systems practical in real applications, where the large size of the structures, and the changing environments they are exposed to, pose problems for many methods which otherwise fare well in laboratory settings. 5. Non-invasive imaging for improved cardiovascular diagnostics : Shear wave elastography, relative pressure estimation, and tomographic reconstruction
Sammanfattning : Throughout the last century, medical imaging has come to revolutionise the way we diagnose disease, and is today an indispensable part of virtually any clinical practice. In cardiovascular care imaging is extensively utilised, and the development of novel techniques promises refined diagnostic abilities: ultrasound elastography allows for constitutive tissue assessment, 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) enables full-field flow mapping, and micro-Computed Tomography (CT) permits high-resolution imaging at pre-clinical level.
