1. Studies of flow duct acoustics with applications to turbocharged engines
Sammanfattning : A number of experimental and theoretical studies, performed in the field of technical flow duct acoustics are presented in this thesis. The acoustical methods treated are implemented on turbocharged IC-engines and engine gas exchange system components. A new method based on the well-known two-load technique has been developed. 2. Power-Based Two-Ports with Application to HVAC Systems
Sammanfattning : The understanding of acoustic wave propagation in ducts or pipes is essential for all applications involving fluid machines, e.g., fans, pumps, and compressors. Over the years different methods have been developed to simulate wave propagation in duct networks. LÄS MER
3. Characteristic of Surge Transfer Through Transformers : Study of Conventional Distribution Transformer and XLPE Cable Winding Transformer (Dryformer)
Sammanfattning : Wide spread application and dependence on microelectronics based equipment in modern society has necessitated the study of power supply quality problems in low voltage power installations. In spite of improvements in surge protection, sensitive equipment connected to low-voltage side of distribution transformer has continued to fail due to transient voltages that are transferred through distribution transformer from high voltage circuits. 4. Submillimeter-Wave Waveguide Frontends by Silicon-on-Insulator Micromachining
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents novel radiofrequency (RF) frontend components in the submillimeter-wave (sub-mmW) range implemented by silicon micromachining, or deep reactive ion etching (DRIE). DRIE is rapidly becoming a driving technology for the fabrication of waveguide components and systems when approaching the terahertz (THz) frequency range. LÄS MER
5. IC-engine intake noise predictions based on linear acoustics
Sammanfattning : Shorter product development cycles, densely packed engine compartments and intensified noise legislation increase the need for accurate predictions of IC-engine air intake noise at early stages. The urgent focus on the increasing CO2 emissions and the efficiency of IC-engines, as well as new techniques such as homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) might worsen the noise situation.
