    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses several controversial issues regarding commonly used antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), and tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs). To this end, patient-level data from 28 placebo-controlled trials on SSRIs and 13 corresponding trials on the SNRI duloxetine, were requested and obtained. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The tricyclic antidepressant drugs (TCA) have, over the years, been reported to be able to cause adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)/acute lung injury in connection with overdose, and are currently among the most common cause of self-poisoning. Approximately 10% of all TCA overdose patients develop ARDS, and the treatment of these patients, irrespective of the event causing ARDS, is mainly supportive. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : A large minority of children with enuresis do not respond to treatment with either desmopressin or the enuresis alarm. Anticholinergics have not proven as successful as expected. The fourth evidence-based treatment of enuresis, the tricyclic antidepressant imipramine, is cardiotoxic when overdosed, which has led to diminished use. LÄS MER
