  1. 1. Collisional transport in edge transport barriers and stellarators

    Författare :Stefan Buller; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fusion; tokamak; plasma physics; stellarator; impurity transport; collisional transport; transport; pedestal;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear fusion has the potential to generate abundant and clean energy. In magnetic confinement fusion, the temperatures needed to achieve fusion are obtained by confining a hot plasma with magnetic fields. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Blood-Brain Barrier Transport : Investigation of Active Efflux using Positron Emission Tomography and Modelling Studies

    Författare :Stina Syvänen; Margareta Hammarlund-Udenaes; Mats Bergström; Gunnar Blomquist; Jashvant Unadkat; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Pharmaceutical biosciences; pharmacokinetics; P-glycoprotein; blood-brain barrier; modelling; PET; active efflux; species differences; [11C]verapamil; drug development; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the transport of exogenous molecules across the blood-brain barrier (BBB), focusing on active efflux, using positron emission tomography (PET), computer simulation and modelling. P-glycoprotein (P-gp) inhibition was studied using [11C]verapamil and [11C]hydroxyurea was investigated as a new marker for active efflux transport. LÄS MER

  3. 3. New Approaches to Studies of Paracellular Drug Transport in Intestinal Epithelial Cell Monolayers

    Författare :Staffan Tavelin; Per Artursson; Staffan Tavelin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; intestinal epithelium; tight junctions; cell culture; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Studies of intestinal drug permeability have traditionally been performed in the colon-derived Caco-2 cell model. However, the permeability of these cell monolayers resembles that of the colon rather than that of the small intestine, which is the major site of drug absorption following oral administration. 4. 4. Overall Accessibility of Public Transport for Older Adults

    Författare :Catherine Sundling; Mats E. Nilsson; Birgitta Berglund; Leslie R. Pendrill; Ragne Emardson; Bo Edvardsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; older persons; critical incidents; critical reactions; travel behavior; accessibility; functional limitation; functional ability; barrier; facilitator; public transport; railway travel; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on four studies that explore accessibility for older adults during whole trips by public transport. The overall goal was to gain knowledge of the interrelationships among key variables and to develop a conceptual model of the overall accessibility of public transport. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Oxycodone and Morphine with Emphasis on Blood-Brain Barrier Transport

    Författare :Emma Boström; Margareta Hammarlund-Udenaes; Ulrika Simonsson; Danny D Shen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Pharmacokinetics Pharmacotherapy; pharmacokinetics; pharamcodynamics; blood-brain barrier; oxycodone; microdialysis; NONMEM; brain distribution; transport; Farmakokinetik Farmakoterapi;

    Sammanfattning : The pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of oxycodone and morphine was investigated and related to the transport across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) in rats. The influence of a P-glycoprotein (P-gp) inhibitor on the plasma pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of oxycodone was evaluated. LÄS MER
