  1. 1. A method for analysing the traffic process in a safety perspective

    Författare :Åse Svensson; Trafik och väg; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; intermediate method; Accidents; pedestrian safety; safety hierarchy; severity; traffic conflicts; interaction; road user behaviour; traffic safety; traffic process; time to accidents; safety indicators; surrogate measures;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to extend the traffic safety assessment concept to also include normal road user behaviour, thus not only exceptional behaviours such as accidents and serious conflicts. The goal is to provide a framework for a more thorough description and analysis of safety related road user behaviour in order to better understand the traffic safety processes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Development of traffic conflicts technique for different environments: A comparative study of pedestrian conflicts in Sweden and Jordan

    Författare :Lina Shbeeb; Trafik och väg; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; perception of conflicts.; non-signalised junctions; signalised junctions; accident prediction; accident to conflict conversion factors; TA-speed graphs; conflict speed; time to accidents; conflict sub-grouping; severity index; threshold; relevant road-user; pedestrian conflict; Traffic safety; traffic conflict technique; Technological sciences; Teknik; Social sciences; Samhällsvetenskaper;

    Sammanfattning : This study is aimed at improving the current Swedish Traffic conflicts Technique [TCT] in relation to vehicle-pedestrian conflicts. The present definition of conflict severity appears to produce less severe conflicts than they might be, particularly if the relevant road user (RRU) is the pedestrian. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Defining and applying surrogate safety measures and behavioural indicators through site-based observations

    Författare :Tim de Ceunynck; Trafik och väg; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Surrogate safety measures; behavioural indicators; traffic safety; site-based observations; traffic conflicts; traffic conflict techniques; road user interactions;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation looks into surrogate safety measures and behavioural indicators that are collected through site-based observations. Surrogate safety measures are defined as measurements that are used to describe the relationship between two road users in a traffic event for the purpose of quantifying the crash probability and/or the potential crash severity in a meaningful way. 4. 4. Application of automated video analysis to road user behaviour

    Författare :Aliaksei Laureshyn; Trafik och väg; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; safety indicators; traffic safety; traffic conflicts; Video analysis; road user behaviour;

    Sammanfattning : The successful planning, design and management of a traffic system is impossible without knowledge of how the traffic environment affects the behaviour of road users and how the behaviour is related to the main qualities of the traffic system (e.g. safety, efficiency). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Surrogate Measures of Safety with a Focus on Vulnerable Road Users : An exploration of theory, practice, exposure, and validity

    Författare :Carl Johnsson; Trafik och väg; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Trafiksäkerhet; Indirekta trafiksäkerhetsindikatorer; Oskyddade trafikanter; Videoanalys; Surrogate measures of safety; Traffic safety; Vulnerable road user safety; Traffic conflicts; video analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Surrogate measures of safety (SMoS) are meant to function as tools to investigate traffic safety. The term surrogate indicates that these measures do not rely on crash data; instead, they focus on identifying safety critical events (or near-crashes) in traffic, which can be used as an alternative to crash records.
