  1. 1. Machinability variations in Alloy 718 —With focus on machining of turbine components

    Författare :Pajazit Avdovic; Industriell Produktion; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; polar diagram; flank wear; ceramic tool; variation in material; tool wear; tool life; machinability; Inconel; Alloy 718; Machining; notch wear;

    Sammanfattning : In gas turbine engine, nickel base alloy, such as Alloy 718, accounts for almost half of the total material requirement. Nickel-base superalloys are used for gas turbine components mainly because of their outstanding strength and resistance to oxidation at high temperatures (> 550°C). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Machinability variations in alloy 718 turbine components

    Författare :Pajazit Avdovic; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; variation in tool; hardness; Machining; flank wear; notch wear; alloy 718; grain size; instability; variation in material;

    Sammanfattning : Machinability Variations in Alloy 718 Turbine Components PAJAZIT AVDOVIC Department of Materials and Manufacturing TechnologyChalmers University of Technology AbstractAlloy 718 has a reputation for being very troublesome during the cutting process. It was suspected that this material was too hard and having too fine grain size and that these characteristics caused damage to cutting tools during processing. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Phase equilibria and thermodynamic properties of high-alloy tool steels : theoretical and experimental approach

    Författare :Johan Bratberg; John Ågren; Bengt Hallstedt; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermodynamic modelling; thermodynamic calculations; tool steels; high-speed steels; CALPHAD; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The recent development of tool steels and high-speed steels has led to a significant increase in alloy additions, such as Co, Cr, Mo, N, V, and W. Knowledge about the phase relations in these multicomponent alloys, that is, the relative stability between different carbides or the solubility of different elements in the carbides and in the matrix phase, is essential for understanding the behaviour of these alloys in heat treatments. 4. 4. Characterization of WC-Co tools used for machining of Alloy 718 under the influence of high-pressure coolant supply

    Författare :Philipp Hoier; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; erosion; surface-modifications; High-pressure coolant supply; Alloy 718; tool wear; vapor-barrier;

    Sammanfattning : The use of high-pressure jets for supply of coolant to the cutting zone has the potential to significantly increase the productivity and process stability when machining difficult-to-cut materials such as Ni-based superalloys. Apart from better chip-breakability, the jets enable the coolant to reach closer to the cutting edge and hence enhance its capability to dissipate heat. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Textured insert for improved heat extraction in combination with high-pressure cooling in turning of superalloys

    Författare :Nageswaran Tamil Alagan; Tomas Beno; Uta Klement; Anders Wretland; Högskolan Väst; []
