  1. 1. Coronary artery disease and prognosis in relation to cardiovascular risk factors, interventional techniques and systemic atherosclerosis

    Författare :Fredrik Calais; Ole Fröbert; Jerzy Leppert; Bo Lagerqvist; Stefan K James; Douwe E. Atsma; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atherosclerosis; Myocardial infarction; Coronary artery disease; Extra-cardiac artery disease; Coronary stent; Thrombus aspiration; physical inactivity; Prognosis;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: To evaluate the prognosis associated with location and severity of coronary and systemic atherosclerosis in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) in relation to risk factors and interventional techniques.Methods: The thesis comprised six longitudinal studies based on three patient cohorts: The Swedish Coronary Angiography and Angioplasty Registry, the Västmanland Myocardial Infarction Survey, and the Thrombus Aspiration in ST-Elevation myocardial infarction in Scandinavia study, to evaluate clinical outcome relative to coronary lesion location and severity, extracoronary artery disease (ECAD), intervention techniques, and leisuretime physical inactivity (LTPI). 2. 2. Factors influencing prognosis in acute coronary syndrome - A report from the SWEDEHEART registry

    Författare :Oskar Angerås; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute coronary syndrome; acute myocardial infarction; risk factors; obesity paradox; socioeconomic status; cardiogenic shock; thrombus aspiration; SWEDEHEART; SCAAR; RIKS-HIA;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is one of the major causes of mortality in the world. The prognosis for patients with ACS is affected by several factors, such as baseline characteristics and treatment before, during and after hospitalisation. . LÄS MER

  3. 3. Prognostic impact of coronary microvascular funtion in patients with ischemic heart disease

    Författare :Inger Haraldsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; coronary microvascular function; coronary flow reserve; coronary artery disease; acute coronary syndromes; thrombus aspiration; pretreatment; SCAAR; SWEDHEART;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Ischemic heart disease is the leading cause of death globally. Despite recent advances in interventional and medical therapies, survivors of myocardial infarction are at high risk of recurrent cardiovascular events. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Analysis of new biomarkers and their kinetics in connection with ST-elevation myocardial infarction and percutaneous coronary intervention

    Författare :Rahel Befekadu Wodajo; Sofia Ramström; Magnus Grenegård; Anders Larsson; Dick Wågsäter; Örebro universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : This thesis studies different biomarkers in a cohort of patients suffering from ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) who underwent Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in Örebro in 2011-2012. Blood samples were collected at three time points, at the arrival at the hospital, 1-3 days after PCI and for a smaller group of patients also 3 months after PCI. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Diabetes and glucose abnormalities in cardiovascular disease : studies on prevalence and prognosis in myocardial infarction and atrial fibrillation

    Författare :Stelios Karayiannides; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Cardiovascular disease and diabetes are both common chronic conditions associated with a high disease and economic burden globally. Diabetes increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and leads to a worse prognosis after a cardiovascular event. LÄS MER
