  1. 1. Thermal and State-of-Charge Balancing of Batteries using Multilevel Converters

    Författare :Faisal Altaf; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermal balancing; Convex optimization; DC-link ripple; Battery ripple; Battery control; Hybrid electric vehicles.; Multilevel converter; Cell balancing;

    Sammanfattning : Driven by the needs to reduce the dependence of fossil fuels and the emissions of conventional vehicles there has in recent years been an increasing interest in battery-powered electrified vehicles (xEVs). In xEVs, the battery pack, built from many small cells, is one of the most expensive components in the powertrain. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On Modeling and Optimal Control of Modular Batteries: Thermal and State-of-Charge Balancing

    Författare :Faisal Altaf; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; convex optimization; converters; electrified vehicles.; model predictive control; thermal balancing; SOC balancing; battery control; Modular batteries;

    Sammanfattning : There has in recent years been an increasing interest in battery-powered electrified vehicles (xEVs) to reduce carbon footprint of transportation and the dependence on fossil fuels. Since the battery pack of xEVs is one of the most expensive but a key component in the powertrain, the battery lifetime is an important factor for the success of xEVs. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Performance of a Multi Cylinder HCCI Engine using Variable Compression Ratio and Fast Thermal Management

    Författare :Jari Hyvönen; Förbränningsmotorer; []

    Sammanfattning : The prime mover in the world today is the Internal Combustion (IC) engine. The development and improvement of the internal combustion engines since Nicolaus August Otto and Rudolf Diesel has continued until today and will continue long into the future. No major competitor to the IC engine has yet emerged. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Avoiding greenhouse gas emissions using flexibility in smart thermal grids

    Författare :Jay Hennessy; Hailong Li; Justin Chiu; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; district heating; thermal grids; flexibility; avoided emissions; thermal storage; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The Paris Agreement on climate change entered into force in 2016 and has been ratified by 193 of the 197 Parties to-date, followed by country targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions, not least through an increasing penetration of renewable energy sources. In its 2021 annual World Energy Outlook, the IEA envisages a Net-Zero Emissions by 2050 scenario (NZE) in which renewables as a percentage of total energy supply increase from around 10% in 2020 to over 65% in 2050 and is reflected by a similar change in the percentage of variable renewables in total generation, thereby increasing the need for system flexibility. 5. 5. On Distributed Balancing of Wind Power Forecast Deviations in Competitive Power Systems

    Författare :Richard Scharff; Lennart Söder; Mikael Amelin; Gerard L. Doorman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; balancing; wind power integration; electricity market; wind power variations; wind power forecast errors;

    Sammanfattning : Wind power generation does, on the one hand, contribute to a less polluting and more sustainable electric power generation mix. On the other hand, the uncertainty and the variability of the power output do challenge the operation of the power system: hourly variations in wind power generation are hardly predictable in a precise way.
