  1. 1. Evaluation of thermal comfort of head gear : a method to measure heat transfer characteristics

    Författare :Xiaoxiong Liu; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industrial Work Environment; Industriell produktionsmiljö;

    Sammanfattning : This study was carried out within the research project "Thermal properties of protective helmets - improvement, validation and standardization of a measurement method" which was a continuation of a research project being carried out since 1992 at the Division of Industrial Ergonomics, Department of Human Work Sciences, Luleå University of Technology, Sweden, with co-operation of the Department of Ergonomics, National Institute for Working, Life (NIWL), Solna, Sweden. A method was developed for measuring the evaporative heat transfer properties of helmets, based on the results of a thorough literature survey. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Primary hyperhidrosis : prevalence and impacts for the individual

    Författare :Alexander Shayesteh Afshar; Elisabet Nylander; Urban Janlert; Christine Brulin; Jens Boman; Lennart Emtestam; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; primary hyperhidrosis; prevalence; characteristics; localization; quality of life; botulinum toxin; depression and anxiety; stigma; content analysis; Dermatology and Venerology; dermatologi och venereologi;

    Sammanfattning : Primary hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating, is a condition with unknown prevalence in many parts of the world. The disease debuts in adolescence and it affects men and women in equal proportions. A genetic background exists and the most common localisation on the body for excessive sweating is the axillary region. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Botulinum Toxin in the Treatment of Focal Hyperhidrosis and Dyshidrotic Hand Dermatitis

    Författare :Carl Swartling; Klas Nordlind; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Hyperhidrosis; dyshidrotic hand dermatitis; botulinum toxin; side-effects; EMG; quality of life; sweat glands; immunohistochemistry; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Dermatologi och venereologi; Dermatology and Venerology;

    Sammanfattning : Excessive sweating may cause considerable disability, with psychological, social and occupational consequences. Primary hyperhidrosis may also play a key role in the pathogenesis of dyshidrotic dermatitis and some other skin diseases. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Footwear for cold environments : thermal properties, performance and testing

    Författare :Kalev Kuklane; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industrial Work Environment; Industriell produktionsmiljö;

    Sammanfattning : Footwear with various insulation levels was evaluated. Some footwear was manufactured both with and without steel toe cap. Comparative studies between various methods (thermal foot model, human subjects, EN 344) were carried out. Data from subjects and foot model were used in evaluation of thermal properties of footwear. 5. 5. Effects of Motion Sickness on Human Thermoregulatory Mechanisms

    Författare :Gerard Nobel; Ola Eiken; Nigel A.S. Taylor; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Motion Sickness; autonomic thermoregulation; behavioural thermoregulation; hypothermia; acetylcholine; histamine; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The presented studies were performed to investigate the effects of motion sickness (MS) on human autonomic and behavioural thermoregulatory mechanisms during cold stress and in a thermoneutral environment. The roles of histaminergic and cholinergic neuron systems in autonomic thermoregulation and MS-dependent dysfunction of autonomic thermoregulation were studied using a histamine-receptor blocker, dimenhydrinate (DMH), and a muscarine-receptor blocker, scopolamine (Scop).
