  1. 1. Wettability of modified wood

    Författare :Maziar Sedighi Moghaddam; Agne Swerin; M. Per Calessson; E.P. Magnus Wålinder; Callum Hill; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wood; dimensional stability; dynamic wettability; surface chemistry; microstructure; swelling; multicycle Wilhelmy plate method; contact angle; sorption; acetylation; furfurylation; surface modification; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Despite many excellent properties of wood which make it suitable for many applications, it suffers from a number of disadvantages limiting its use. For instance, modification is needed to reduce water sorption and to improve decay resistance, dimensional stability and weathering performance. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Aspects of oral implant technology and osseointegration

    Författare :Rainde Naiara Rezende de Jesus; Malmö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; biomaterials; oral implants; surface topography; surface roughness; surface energy; surface wettability; hydrophilicity; macrogeometry; implant body; thread design; surgical protocol; oversized drilling; osseointegration; bone-to-implant contact; bone density; primary implant stability; insertion torque; removal torque; removal energy; connection stiffness; osteoclasts; RAW264.7 cells; gene expression;

    Sammanfattning : Behandling med käkbensförankrade tandimplantat är en vanlig metod för att ersätta förlorade tänder hos helt och partiellt tandlösa patienter. Trots att implantatbehandling uppvisar en långsiktigt hög lyckande- och överlevnadsfrekvens (90–95% efter 10 år) så förekommer implantatförluster och marginal benförlust kring implantaten under det första året efter insättning och/eller belastning, vilket kan försämra det estetiska resultatet. Sammanfattning : Manufacturing sector is continuously identifying opportunities to streamline production, reduce waste and improve manufacturing efficiency without compromising product quality. Continuous improvement has been the primary objective to produce acceptable quality products and meet dynamic customer demands by using advanced techniques and methods. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Aspects on wettability and surface composition of modified wood

    Författare :Lars-Elof Bryne; Ove Söderström; Charles R. Frihart; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wettability; contact angle; work of adhesion; Lewis acid-base; modified wood; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Wood is often combined with other materials such as thermoplastics, adhesives and coatings. In general, combinations of wood and polymers especially in outdoor exposure have poor long-term durability. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Functionalized Biomaterial Surfaces by Micro- and Nanofabrication

    Författare :Sarunas Petronis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nanofabrication; surface characterization; surface topography; surface chemical composition; marine biofouling; force-sensing substrates; microfabrication; surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy; cell-surface interaction; biointerfaces; biomaterials;

    Sammanfattning : In the field of biomaterials, well-defined nano- and micropatterns or features at material surfaces can serve both as models for investigating material-biosystem interactions and as functional features for inducing, hindering or measuring specific bioreactions or biologic responses. Important bioreactions include protein adsorption and conformation, cell attachment and function, and adhesion and function of organized tissues or whole organisms. LÄS MER
