1. Nanocellulose for Biomedical Applications : Modification, Characterisation and Biocompatibility Studies
Sammanfattning : In the past decade there has been increasing interest in exploring the use of nanocellulose in medicine. However, the influence of the physicochemical properties of nanocellulose on the material´s biocompatibility has not been fully investigated. LÄS MER
2. Electronic materials : growth and characterisation
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the InSb(111), InAs(111) and GaSb(001) surfaces have been studied by means of time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy based upon the femtosecond laser system. The pump-and-probe technique allows to analyse both electron states in the valence band and normally unpopulated electron states above the valence band, which can be occupied by transiently excited carriers at the optically pumped surface. 3. Surface Interactions in Powder Injection Moulding
Sammanfattning : Powder Injection Moulding (PIM) is an attractive technique for producing complex components in large quantities my means of powder technology. The process includes mixing powder with a suitable binder, usually a thermoplastic polymer. Because of the large attractive forces between small particles the powder can be agglomerated in the binder. LÄS MER
4. Surface Phenomena in Li-Ion Batteries
Sammanfattning : The formation of surface films on electrodes in contact with non-aqueous electrolytes in lithium-ion batteries has a vital impact on battery performance. A basic understanding of such films is essential to the development of next-generation power sources. LÄS MER
5. Preparation and Properties of Surface Modified Thin Polymer Films
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with preparation, modification and characterisation of thin polymer films. Most of the work has been performed using thin films of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) as a model system for systematic surface modifications by glow discharge plasma and UV/ozone treatments.
